Chouk is a rescued Asian elephant living at Phnom Tamao Zoological Park, Protected Forest and Arboretum. He has a disability caused by a serious injury he suffered when he was very young.

Because of his condition, Chouk has difficulty walking normally and wears a specially designed prosthetic shoe to protect his injured foot and help him move more comfortably.

Despite his disability, Chouk is a gentle and resilient elephant. With dedicated care from his keepers and veterinary team, he continues to live safely and comfortably at Phnom Tamao, where visitors can learn about his story and the importance of protecting elephants from threats such as snares and illegal hunting.

Chouk was brought to Phnom Tamao in 2007, when he was approximately one year old. Every day, a team of veterinarians checks his prosthetic shoe and carefully examines his foot for any signs of injury or infection.

After being rescued and receiving dedicated care from the Phnom Tamao Zoo team, Chouk has a much better life. He has adapted well to his environment and enjoys living here.
