Berdmore’s Squirrel

Berdmore’s Squirrel

Berdmore's Squirrel, also known as the Indochinese ground squirrel, is a small rodent native to the forests and agricultural lands of Southeast Asia. It is easily recognized by its greyish-brown fur, pointed snout, and distinct beige and dark stripes running along the sides of its body. Unlike most tree-dwelling squirrels, this species spends the majority of its time on the ground foraging for seeds, fallen fruits, insects, and small roots. They often nest in burrows or dense underbrush, using their quick agility to dart into safety when predators approach. Currently, Berdmore's Squirrel is classified as Least Concern, maintaining stable populations across its natural range.
