The Clouded Leopard is a medium-sized wild cat native to the dense tropical forests of South and Southeast Asia, named for the striking, cloud-like blotches on its coat. It is renowned for having the longest canine teeth relative to body size of any living wild cat species, drawing comparisons to prehistoric saber-toothed cats. Exceptional acrobats of the treetops, they possess flexible ankles and large paws that allow them to climb down tree trunks headfirst and hang upside down from branches. These secretive, solitary predators hunt a wide range of prey, including primates, deer, birds, and small mammals. Regrettably, Clouded Leopard populations are declining rapidly due to severe deforestation, habitat fragmentation, and illegal poaching for their beautiful pelts.
