Eld's Deer, also known as the thamin or brow-antlered deer, is an endangered deer species native to South and Southeast Asia. Males are easily recognized by their unique, bow-shaped antlers that sweep outward and backward before curving forward near the tips. These medium-sized herbivores prefer open dry deciduous forests and seasonal wetlands, feeding on grasses, aquatic plants, and fallen fruit. They are highly social animals during certain times of the year, forming herds to forage and protect themselves from predators. Today, Eld's Deer populations are critically threatened due to severe habitat loss, agricultural expansion, and illegal poaching.
