Meet the Indian Peafowl, the glamorous, sapphire-blue superstar of the bird world. While the Green Peafowl rules the local Cambodian forests, this spectacular cousin from the Indian subcontinent looks like it is permanently dressed for a royal ball. When the male (peacock) raises his breathtaking train of iridescent "eye" feathers, it unfolds exactly like a grand theater curtain designed to completely mesmerize the females (peahens). Despite dragging around a magnificent tail that is much longer than their actual body, they are surprisingly agile and can easily burst into flight to sleep safely in the highest tree branches at night.
