The Moon Bear, officially known as the Asian black bear, is a medium-sized bear species native to the forests of Asia. It is best known for the prominent crescent-shaped patch of cream or white fur across its chest, which closely resembles a crescent moon. These adaptable omnivores are exceptional climbers and swimmers, spending much of their time in trees foraging for acorns, nuts, fruit, and small animals. They play a vital role in forest health by aiding in seed dispersal and keeping insect populations balanced. Unfortunately, Moon Bears are listed as Vulnerable due to severe habitat loss and illegal poaching for the wildlife trade.
